Ohm breathing lamp features a lovely, cuddly form that symbolizes a lung filled with breath, offering a gentle reminder to pause and breathe deeply. Its soft light rises and falls, visually guiding you through each inhale and exhale, creating a calming, rhythmic experience.

The lamp is crafted from a single hand-blown glass shell, giving it a smooth and seamless form. The top of the glass features a subtle concave shape, which perfectly cradles and wireless charges the sensor stone.

The user gently removes the stone from the top of the lamp and hold it in their palm. The biometric sensors in the stone detect their heart rate, and as they find their rhythm, the lamp’s color shifts to indicate when they reach a state of resonance breathing.

We explored three different architectures and decided to go with a table lamp as it provides some portability and it seamlessly integrates into any space.

We explored different forms, movements, and mechanisms to capture the feel of breathing. The idea was to create something that naturally helps people breathe more easily, without them even realizing it’s guiding them.

Beyond the movement that guides breathing, the form of the lamp and the stone is a key design element in this project. Our aim is to balance a clean, geometric shape that visually supports breathing guidance with an organic form that fosters an emotional connection.

We tested and printed numerous parts to explore form, volume, comfort, emotional connection, and other aspects.

Once a form is selected, we refine every detail to align with Ohm's design language. The stone sitting on the top of the lamp resembles a subtle circular ripple effect, while the bottom charger echoes this radial circular motif.

The lamp and stone work together in harmony, providing users with a scientifically grounded yet calming breathing experience that promotes better health.
